The Melchtal stretches from Kerns between the Sarnersee and Lake Lucerne southwards to the Stöckalp, where a gondola lift (suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs) gives access to the invitingly high valley of the Melchsee-Frutt. The sunny little village is located at 1’920 metres above sea level and is the heart of the resort.
Summer: In summer, the Frutt is a beautiful sea of flowers. Not only enthusiastic anglers will be fascinated by the deep blue mountain lakes of Melchsee and Tannensee, which are teeming with trout.
There are also many adventurers to climb the imposing cliffs of Boni. The Hasliberg-Melchsee-Frutt-Engelberg route is a classic and the six-hour four-lake hike from Melchsee-Frutt via Tannalp, Engstlenalp, Jochpass and Trübsee to Engelberg is particularly popular.
Winter: This high valley, with sunny winter hiking trails and cross-country ski tracks, is flanked by two ski areas: Balmeregghorn and Erzegg, with broad sunny slopes and the freestyle park fruttpark.ch.
Steeper slopes run from Mount Bonistock down to Stöckalp, with a difference in altitude of over 1’000 metres. The 8-kilometre slope to Stöckalp is a must for sledgers.
