The winter sports resort Brunni-Alpthal is during summer and autumn an ideal starting point for various hikes and bike tours in a beautiful alpine forest landscape. In this paradise, you can hike or cycle along the imposing Mythen Mountains on well-marked hiking trails.
The distinctive “Grosser Mythen” dominates the scenery and is complemented by the “Kleiner Mythen“. The view from the two viewpoints Holzegg and Haggenegg is just fantastic. The view sweeps over Schwyz and Brunnen on the shores of the “Vierwaldstättersee” with the imposing Alpine scenery in the background.
From your starting point Brunni-Alpthal (1100 m above sea level), you may take a ride on the cable car or hike up to the Holzegg (1488 m above sea level) on foot.
Suggested hike extension
From Holzegg, walk to “Zwüschet-Mythen” (1356 m above sea level) and further on to Haggenegg (1414 m above sea level) before returning back to Brunni-Alpthal. The route leads through gravel paths, lush mountain meadows, beautiful shady pre-alpine forest and along the mighty rock bastions of the northern foot of the “Grosser Mythen”.
The alp “Zwüschet-Mythen” is beautifully located between the “Grosser Mythen” and the “Kleiner Mythen”. A short detour to the actual pass “Zwüschet Mythen” (1436 m above sea level) gives a clear view of the Schwyz basin. From this viewpoint, you can see the tourist resort Brunnen with “Vierwaldstättersee” or Seewen with the “Lauerzersee”.
From this viewpoint, the path leads back to the Alp and from there either back to Brunni-Alpthal on the same way or further along the foot of the “Kleiner Mythen” to Haggenegg. From this viewpoint, you then walk back to Brunni-Alpthal and complete the circular walk.
